Able Tasman National Park - New Zealand - Jan 2005

Something completely different after escaping from the mountains...

Company in the water, dolphins completely ignoring us. Low seas traffic jam, Theresa in the bow of the boat... Looking towards our destination - Fishermans Island.

Bay of Islands - New Zealand - Feb 2007

Tourist time in the Bay of Island - we took a trip on one of the fast cats out to Piercy or Mokukokako Island commonly know as "the hole in the rock" just of Cape Brett. One of the big sights for the area.

Heading out from Paihia past Motuarahi Island, we paddled around that a couple of days latterl and landed for to look around. Boats at anchor in Waewaetorea Passage between Waewaetorea and Urupukapuka Islands before heading out to Cape Brett and the hole. Mokukokako Island and the hole in the rock from the distance, note the sailing boat next to the hole. It's quite big.

Inside the hole... Dolphins pass the bow of the cat - they didn't stay long and the boat couldn't stay with them.

A beach holiday with a difference... Bored with the beach, hire a Kayak for the day. We spent the whole day more or less on the water travelling from Paihia around its offshore island Motumaire before heading off to Russell and a cafe stop. Then following the coast around to Tapeka Point for a duck (where?) lunch. Before heading back more or less the same way.

Theresa standing by the hire kayak at the beach just west of Tapeka Point. We went out past the rock in the background (Fraser Light) before landing. Lunch break - Theresa with new friends who invited themselves. After lunch we went snorkelling around the rock pools. Return to Russell before heading back across the bay to Paihia.
